House Finally Funds PART of Trump’s Border Wall

The important House Appropriations Committee has finally moved a budget to the House floor that includes funding for 200 miles of border wall along our southern border.

President Donald J. Trump was elected behind his campaign promises to get tough on illegal immigration and build a wall along America’s southern border.

While a majority of Americans and President Trump have been eagerly awaiting construction of the border wall, Republicans and Democrats in Congress have been slow to act.

From Breitbart:

The July 19 bill “provides the resources to begin building a wall along our southern border, enhance our existing border security infrastructure, hire more border patrol agents, and fund detention operations,” said a statement from Kansas Rep. Kevin Yoder, who chairs the Homeland Security panel of the House Appropriations Committee.

The bill is expected to pass the House but be blocked in the Senate, where the 49 Democrats can block any legislation until the GOP’s leadership meets some of their demands. So far, Senate Democrats have bitterly opposed President Donald Trump immigration programs and reforms, especially his plan to build a border wall.

The Senate bill, announced June 19, provides $1.6 billion to build only 65 miles of fencing in the Rio Grande Valley.

Democrats are also being pushed by their left to block funding for domestic enforcement of the immigration laws, even though the “Abolish ICE” goal is very unpopular.

The House bill includes $5.5 billion in an account for building the wall – but also for buying various boats and aircraft, so it is not clear how much can be spent on the wall

Unfortunately, while the House my be ready to listen to the American people and fund President Trump’s border wall, the Senate is expected to continue it’s obstruction of Trump’s conservative reform agenda.

The Senate’s lack of action on important policy measures like funding the border wall could be a major factor in this fall’s mid-term elections.

  1. I WOULD HOPE THAT THEY COULD FUND THE BORDER WALL ! They seem to have no problem funding defense attorneys for illegals who have clearly broken our immigration laws !!!! And thy have no problem housing and feeding thousands of illegals in segregation facilities and no problem providing education and counseling to their children…..if they even are their children !!!!

  2. Didn’t President Trump campaign that the border wall wasn’t going to cost American taxpayers a single dollar because Mexico was going to pay for it? I think that’s the primary reason it’s not progressing thru Congress. It’s an unexpected expenditure. Just like the $12 Billion unexpected expense of bailing out the farmers hurt by the vindictive tariffs originating from Pres. Trump.
