Pelosi Endangering Dem Chances

As Republicans and Democrats prepare for the mid-term elections, there has been much discussion about how President Donald J. Trump’s favorability may affect turnout in November.

However, Democrats are quietly concerned that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi may ruin their chances to take over the house.

From The National Review:

Some Democrats are willing to publicly acknowledge that the highly liberal Pelosi alienates independents and moderates. “People pretend that it isn’t a problem, but it’s a problem that exists,” Representative Brian Higgins (D., N.Y.) told the Washington Post last week. He said frustrated colleagues told him that Republicans’ anti-Pelosi ads cost Democrats the House special election in Ohio, where they trailed by only 1,500 votes. One third of the national ads run by Republicans in that race mentioned Pelosi, and she became a real issue when Democrat Danny O’Connor, after first saying that Democrats need “new leadership,” finally admitted he would vote for her as speaker over a Republican if Democrats put her forward: “I would support whoever the Democratic party put forward.” This comment dominated local coverage of the House race for the week leading up to the special election.

Wow. The once formidable Pelosi is now facing real opposition from within her own party.

NBC reports on a growing list of House Democrats who are openly opposing re-electing Pelosi as their leader.

As Democrats battle to retake control of Congress in November, their leader — Nancy Pelosi — could also be facing a coming fight of her own.

Fifty Democrats running for the House say they won’t support the California lawmaker for speaker, according to an NBC News survey of candidates and their public statements.

At least 42 of the party’s nominees for House seats have declared they will not back Pelosi and nine incumbent Democratic lawmakers are on the record opposing her, bringing the total to 51.

A recent voice to join the chorus came Thursday, when Michigan Democrat Rashida Tlaib, who is on track to become the first Muslim woman in Congress, said she would “probably not” support Pelosi because “she doesn’t speak about the issues that are important to the families of the 13th Congressional District, and they are a priority for me.”

  1. Nancy is getting a bit senile. But that is not the real problem for the Democrats. They problem is that she is saying things and letting slip things that the democrats would prefer the voting public not know. She is inadvertently exposing some of their dirty secrets. She and Maxine are exposing the democrat party for what it is.
