Politics from the organized Left continues to get more and more uncivil as this incident in Pennsylvania shows.
It certainly makes you ask how they’re called “the tolerant left” after a Pennsylvania lawmaker opted for a very ugly photo. Vice President Mike Pence was due to arrive in Pennsylvania for the Republican Governors Association fundraising event. Democrat State Rep. Brian Sims took it upon himself to greet the VP in a vulgar way.
“Rep. Brian Sims (D-Philadelphia) posted a Facebook photo Tuesday of himself giving the middle finger to protest the vice president’s trip to the city for a Republican Governors Association fundraising event.
“OFFICIAL WELCOME: @MikePenceVP let me be the first to officially welcome you to the City of Brotherly Love and to my District!” Sims’ social media posts on Facebook and Twitter read. “We’re a City of soaring diversity. We believe in the power of all people: Black, Brown, Queer, Trans, Atheist, & Immigrant. So … get bent, then get out!”
The 39-year-old Democrat is the first openly gay legislator in the Pennsylvania state house, and took the opportunity to use the obscene gesture as a way to appeal to his base of supporters.”
Apparently in the 39 years that Sims has spent on earth he didn’t take any time to learn a bit of class.
It’s ok to have different views than others, it’s not ok to resort to vulgarities to score cheap political points with your base. After all, Sims is a state legislator and, as such, is supposed to be a community leader and example to others. Sims has faced major backlash on social media for the post, many claiming its childish, rude, and very unprofessional.
If Sims thinks this is the best way to represent his base you have to wonder who is voting for him?
